Denver, NC General Contractors Latest Home Renovation Project
When we were approached about a home addition and renovation in Maiden, we were thrilled to take on the challenge. The homeowners wanted to add three bedrooms and a bath, for a total of 768 square feet, onto their vintage late-1940s home with 1176 square feet of starting space. Making the job more interesting, they wanted the addition designed so it appeared to have always been part of the original structure. With a budget of $100,000 and a timeline of four months to completion, we set to work immediately.
We began by designing the addition and brainstorming how we could make the transition from original structure to addition seamless while retaining the Swing Era charm of the home. Every facet of the design, from the roofing and fascia to the hardwood floors had to be taken into account and melded together into one harmonious whole. Once the homeowners approved the design, it was time to get down to brass tacks.The first steps included laying the foundation and framing the addition so as to take full advantage of the existing structure’s footprint and access points. The existing utilities were updated to allow us to smoothly tie into the house’s current systems and keep everything compliant with both IBC and local building codes. A black metal roof was installed over both the addition and the original house, which was nicely offset by the black shutters and gutters. The floors in the existing residence are hardwood and will be refinished, while new floors will be laid in the addition to match the color and condition of the original floors.With about a month left on the project, the homeowners are delighted with the results Jackson Construction has delivered so far. We’ve managed to retain the aesthetic and feel of the original home, while giving them more space and bringing the utilities up to date. The homeowners were very pleased with the way we managed to make the addition look like it’s always been part of the home, and we’re excited to finish off this project and give the homeowners the forever home they’ve always dreamed of!
